And so it begins: The First Ten Days
September 14, 2009
Hi there! Welcome to Wearable Joy, where I will be sharing some of my very own craftywork…
Er, handsmanship.
Craftyship?
…Stuff I made!
If you’re curious about what Wearable Joy is, go up there *points to top of page* where you see all the little tabs, and click on “About” and “Behind the Name” — those will give you a little bit of background on how this project came to be.
…Did you go there and read?
Great! Welcome back. Now, let’s get down to business.
Without going into boring details, I need to tell you that I have given myself ten days to figure out if this website is worth my time and effort (and a little bit o’ money, too).
What the deadline means for ME: I have to get cracking on some photos of my work, posts to go with them, and some initial layout tweaks to make this site look pretty. If I can’t drum up some creativity (and interest!) by September 24th, I’m killing it.
What it means for YOU: You have ten days to give me tips, suggestions, ideas, feedback and Uber Amounts of Praise! for what you see here. Tell me what you like, what you don’t like, and how much you would pay for one of my necklaces. Share the link on your own blog, or tweet it, or show your mom / husband / cousin’s hairdresser’s poodle what you want for Christmas! And if, by September 24th, I haven’t managed to peak your interest or improve things to your satisfaction, you are obligated to be totally honest with me and say, “Hey…you should kill it.”
Anyway, I am actually quite hopeful about this idea. I’m not even completely sure where it might be headed, but stick around because it’s sure to be somewhere fun!
Oh, and I’m also planning on opening up an etsy shop where you can actually buy some stuff! But since I have this ten-day deadline looming over my head for the blog here, that will come later…assuming Wearable Joy makes the cut on September 24.
Stay tuned for a much more visually interesting post, as I plan out a little photographic adventure into the World of Beads. And please bear with the current Majorly Boring and Generic Layout, and the lack of aforementioned coming-soon photographic attractions. These things take time, friends!

I love this…everything from the name “wearable joy” to the slogan “taking care of beadness” to every word you write! Wow! You are so creative and talented, not to mention funny. What a sense of humor you have. I love this and think you could be the next “Pioneer Woman” or “Flylady” with all sorts of people who follow your musings.
Quick! Get some pictures up and keep the thoughts flowing. I’ll spread the word (but I want some pictures up so people can see your beautiful creations).

Hey Tab! I love it, the name instantly jumped out at me…the over accessorizer. Also a great place to tell the stories behind the creations. My aunt makes jewelry and I LOVE shopping from her creations. She gives me a bulk/family discount and I feel wonderful wearing things custom made by talented folks. Pictures would be awesome and a way to place orders:).
Keep up the good work & words!
